About Me
I have been tutoring online and in person for the past five years. I teach both GCSE and A' Level , as well as exam preparation. I tend to specialise in English Literature, but am also capable to teach History and the Social Sciences. In 2018 I initiated and ran a non-profit tuition programme with 'The Girls' Network' in London to provide support to a group of girls through their GCSEs.
I understand the stress and difficulty students can go through with their exams and I aim to make my sessions as enjoyable as they are informative. While learning about exam technique, revision methods and mark schemes I also work to share my passion for the subject. I always start by working out what the student specifically needs, and devise a plan of action from there. We will always cover the fundamental skills required for the subject, as well as the specifics of the exam; but we will weave in more focused time on their specific weakness and interests. For this reason I use my own material that will vary for each student accordingly.
In 2022 I graduated from Cambridge University with a First in Human, Social and Political Science. I specialised in Sociology, but have also studied Politics and English Literature at undergraduate level. With ambitions to become a writer I'm currently living in London and working on my first novel. I'm also interested in pursuing journalism and was the winner of the British Vogue Writing contest in 2019. Last year I worked for a non-profit looking at the impact of nature on learning and well-being. I helped devise a project at Holland Park School with funding from the Education Evaluation Trust.
I've always been passionate about education and improving how we learn. While at Cambridge I worked to decolonise the marking system and alter how undergraduates are assessed. The work focused on including previously excluded ways of presenting academic work and can be found here. My project was successful and students are now more able to present non-written work in their dissertations.

Luka's Parents
“Imani is truly a miracle worker with her tutoring, I mean seriously! My son was predicted to get 5's in both lit and lang. With just 3 months until his exams Imani started tutoring him weekly. He would finish each session with a big smile on his face saying Imani is the best English teacher he has ever had. Our son's confidence blossomed and he went into his exams empowered. We are totally thrilled with his improved GCSE results of a 7 and an 8!"

"Without Imani tutoring me I would not have felt so prepared, confident or supported going into my exam."

"Just wanted to let you know that I got that B in English! Thank you so much for tutoring me! I really don't think I would've done it without you!"
